Viral transport medium (VTM)

Viral transport medium (VTM) is a solution used to preserve virus specimens after collection so that they can be transported and analysed in a laboratory at a later time.

At present, virus sample collection is an important part of virus detection.

It is used for clinical 2019-nCoV, influenza, hand, foot and mouth, measles, noro and other virus specimens, as well as mycoplasma, chlamydia and ureaplasma for collection, inactivation, transportation and storage, etc.

Application

1. It is used for monitoring and sampling of infectious pathogenic microorganisms by disease control departments and clinical departments.

It is suitable for sampling of influenza virus (common influenza, highly pathogenic avian influenza, H1N1 influenza virus, etc.), hand, foot and mouth virus and other types of viruses. It is also used for sampling of Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Ureaplasma, etc.

2. It is used to transport nasopharyngeal swab samples or tissue samples from specific parts from the sampling site to the testing laboratory for PCR extraction and testing.

3. It is used to preserve nasopharyngeal swab samples or tissue samples from specific parts for necessary cell culture.

Sampling swab

Flocking material, non-toxic to viruses, free of fatty acids and RNase, can collect more respiratory epithelial cells, has better sample collection and elution capacity than traditional swabs, and can effectively improve the positive rate of virus detection .

Breakable design with 3cm breaking point.

Sample preservation solution

Classic type preservation solution (non-inactivated type)

The preservation solution contains cryoprotectants, amino acids and other components, which can maintain the virus activity and infectivity to the maximum extent in a wide temperature range, reduce the speed of virus decomposition, and improve the positive rate of virus isolation and culture.

Inactivated preservation solution

The preservation solution contains strong detergents, which can completely inactivate viruses, bacteria and other pathogens in the samples to ensure biological safety. The preservation solution contains protective nucleic acid components to fully ensure the stability and integrity of nucleic acids and the sensitivity of viral nucleic acid detection.

The virus sampling tubes are loaded with infectious substances, and some are even highly pathogenic substances. Therefore, the requirements for packaging containers are very strict, and three requirements must be met at the same time:

1. The safety of transportation.

Ensure that the sample does not leak during transportation.

2. The security of preservation.

Ensure that the sample does not leak during storage.

3. The validity of the sample.

Make sure that the sampling tube itself will not have a toxic effect on the sample.
